Plank ceilings are finding their way into modern homes and commercial spaces. The once bulky and knotted rustic ceiling treatment has been revamped into sleek planks that offer just the right amount of texture and endless options for colours.
Residentially, the options we see most are tongue and groove. They offer easy installation and most DIYers are familiar with how the system works. Two popular manufacturers are Armstrong and Sagiper.
Armstrong:

Armstrong Country Classic Plank
These planks are 6” wide and 48” long. Made from mineral fiber (like most suspended ceiling tiles), they are light weight and easy to cut. The grain pattern gives this plank a very rustic appearance.

Armstrong Woodhaven Plank
These are a MDF plank that measure 5” wide by 84” long. Available in multiple colours and textures (including bead board).

Sagiper:
|
The Sagirev product line is a vinyl wrapped PVC plank. These planks are 6” wide and available in 12’ or 19’ lengths. This product is very light, easy to cut and available in 15 stocked colours. These planks are exterior rated and can also be used for soffits and covered deck areas.
