Our favourite direct mount ceiling!

Direct mount ceilings are a popular choice for projects where height needs to be maximized or drywalling is not wanted. This could be a basement with low ceilings, a kitchen reno covering up old ceilings or even camper and van ceilings.

Many direct mount ceiling options take us back server decades to the glue or staple up ceilings. These often came in 12”x12” interlocking panels with either no texture or way too much. Although easy to install, they tend to look dated and are very susceptible to damage.

This is why we love ceiling planks! Plank ceilings install tongue and groove and come in a huge variety of colours.

We really like the fit and finish of the Sagiper brand planks. These planks are PVC with a durable exterior vinyl film. There are many colour and grain options to fit any style. The largest benefit to this product is it is completely maintenance free. The planks are exterior rated and are strong enough to stand up to the bumps and bruises that a typical ceiling would show. The surface can be cleaned easily and it is a complete DIY friendly system that includes all the trims you would need for the project.

We have recently seen a surge in people using the Sagiper products in Van conversions. Because the planks are corrugated PVC, they are very light and can even bend slightly to accommodate the curve in van ceilings. Sprinter vans for instance look beautiful with the plank ceilings.
